Fly DIRECT to
Townsville from

Eco
Tours with Tropicana.
Or if you are in
Cairns the best way is to drive the
Great Green Way and be
sure to stop at Paronella Park.
If travelling from the
south be sure to stop at
Billabong Sanctuary.
Magnetic is the is the
only Island off the
North Queensland Coast with a genuine
village atmosphere (because of the resident population), 23
beautiful secluded beaches, LIVE coral reef close to shore,
enormous wildlife diversity and a large proportion of
untouched
National Park.
Although located in
the Tropics, the whole Townsville/Magnetic Island area is in
the DRY Tropics in a rain shadow which makes it the sunniest
Island on the Queensland coast (Magnetic Island averages
over 320 days of sunshine per year).
Just twenty minutes by
fast "Cat" across Cleveland Bay from
Townsville and you
could be in what many consider Paradise!
More than half of the
Island's 5,184 hectares (12,000 acres) is
National Park,
with Mt. Cook in the centre rising to 497 metres. Huge
granite boulders are softened by tall Hoop pines, eucalypt
forest and small patches of rainforest.

soothes all who visit.
