Tropicana Guided
Adventure Company adopts the following practices to minimise
impact on the environment.

Vehicles remain
on made roads and tracks and are not permitted "off road".

Vehicles must
not drive on un-gazetted beaches (to avoid turtle nests) and are
not permitted below the high tide mark where tracks meet
beaches.

Tropicana Guided
Adventure Company adopts the following practices to minimise
impact on the environment.

All walking is
on walking tracks

All waste
generated on tours is removed and sorted for rubbish bins or
recycling bins.

Any waste or
litter found on the island is picked up and removed from the
particular site.

Guides stop on
the West Point Road and Radical Bay Road to collect roadside
rubbish.

Disposable
plates and cups are avoided wherever possible. Biodegradable
detergents are used. Items are removed for washing at full
kitchens. No plates or other implements are washed or even
rinsed on tour.

Guests are
educated on environmental matters throughout the tour.

Tropicana
strives to employ staff with environmental degrees or marine
qualifications.

Tropicana has a
qualified Marine Biologist on staff to give high quality
environmental teaching practices to staff and practical
environmental teachings to customers.

Tropicana has
obtained a hard to get Permit from GBRMPA for unique access to
the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park

all Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) activities and
has permit approval to take customers to Arthur, Florence Bay,
The Forts and other permit applicable areas not available to
most other operators.

to BP Global Choice which is an independently audited and
certified Greenhouse Friendly by the Australian Greenhouse
Office, BP Global Choice provides visible proof to customers and
stakeholders of our company's environmental commitment.

Tropicana Guided Adventure Company meets the requirements of the
Tour Operators Association's Code of Practice: These
requirements are to:

Uphold a high standard of business ethics, customer service and
consumer protection adopting appropriate risk minimisation
strategies to protect the interests and welfare of clients at
all times.

Maintain all licenses, permits and accreditations and authorisations
required by law for the operation of such a business. E.g.
Driver's Licenses, Driver Authorisations, Operator
Accreditation etc

Maintain an appropriate level of Public Liability insurance.Work
with local authorities to ensure that Tropicana Guided Adventure
Company and other activities are environmentally sustainable and
do not damage the natural environment.

Adopt practices which ensure energy and resource efficiency and
minimal impact on the natural environment including responsible
waste disposal practices

Restrict vehicles to designated roads and trails and wherever
possible walk only on hardened walking tracks.

quality interpretation.

In addition to showing commitment to protecting the Island's outdoor
recreation and adventure environment, all staff are required to
uphold the Code above.
